Avast is a very famous and well-regarded antivirus used by millions of people all around the world. It is probably the most famous free antivirus out there. It is repeatedly touted as the world’s no 1 free antivirus in various ads run by Avast, clearly many people use them daily.
But it is also a free antivirus and when the product is free you are the product, so there are privacy concerns with these antiviruses all over by most of the users and rightfully so Avast was caught selling customer data, though the company claimed that the data was deidentified but many say that it could be traced back to users.
Also apart from the privacy concerns, the inbuilt Windows Defender has improved remarkably in the last few years and can now function as the default antivirus for most systems therefore rendering free antiviruses like Avast redundant.
